More Google Coolness - Blogger Style

Sometimes Google gets on a roll with getting new features out there.

First, this may have been there for a while, but I finally notice it tonight. You can now check a box after commenting to have all additional comments on a post emailed to you. About time, now maybe commenting discussion can being to improve on a wider scale with blogs. Blogger is at least trying now to go a little ways toward improving the poor blog commenting that some have discussed in the past.

Second, I continue to find good things at Blogger in draft. For those who haven't seen it, Blogger in draft is where Blogger first rolls out new things (primarily for blog site design for now) before giving it to the general public. To see this, just go to draft.blogger.com, rather than www.blogger.com. I noticed today that they now have available any of the literally hundreds of Google gadgets that are already available for places such as the Google personalized homepage. Now, I just have to find a way to wade through the cruft, and find the goodness.

On a separate note, as those who added it to their RSS will already have seen, I finally kicked off my financial advice site tonight. There is a link under my other sites in the sidebar, but the site is http://financiallysimple.blogspot.com if you are so inclined.

Cool, self-contained solution

I like when people create easy, self-contained solutions to problems that I hear people ask about all the time. In this case, the problem is getting old record albums converted to digital.

The solution in this case, is a turntable with built-in USB recording capability, and some included software. Yeah, the quality probably isn't all that great, but neither are most people's 30 year old albums that have been sitting stacked, in a dark basement for 20 years.

$130 or so from Amazon, and the problem is solved.

Doc Johnson

Yes, I used that title just to see what kind of fun I could have with Google ads.

However, docks are very relevant to this post. I have never purchased an iPod dock to this point, and I also haven't connected my iPod to my home theater. Both seem very practical and usable, they just haven't been necessary for me, and I hadn't really found a product for either that I truly liked.

All of that may be changing. We are potentially getting a new house, and the new house may be used a bit differently. I foresee being down in the home theater area much more than before. There is also a good chance that CRAPT games will be held down there, and music will need to be provided. The iPod makes a great way to do that.

Enter this new product from DLO. A dock that can be used with computer or entertainment center, that can provide an on screen display and remote capability for the iPod. Sweet. It has a very nice design, and the price point isn't terrible. I like it.
